BENEFIT PAYMENTS

Generally you get your superannuation payment only when you:

  • Permanently retire from the workforce; and
  • Reach the minimum preservation age set by law, known as your preservation age.  Your preservation age depends on when you were born, as shown in the table below:

After June 1964 60
July 1963 - June 1964 59
July 1962 - June 1963 58
July 1961 - June 1962 57
July 1960 - June 1961 56
Before July 1960 55

 

Benefits can be paid as a lump sum from Westscheme or transferred into the Westscheme Pension. You may also rollover or transfer your benefit to another complying super fund, approved deposit fund or retirement savings account.

Other rules may apply under certain circumstances including:

  • Members who reside overseas
  • In the event of a member's total and permanent disablement
  • Members making the transition to retirement
  • Financial hardship
  • Compassionate grounds
